4pm - 5pm Taster Lecture: Embryology. THE most interesting part of a Medical degree

In this talk, Prof Wilson will give a “taster” of what teaching is like and deliver a lecture as if you were a medical student in Southampton.

No prior knowledge of genetics, embryology, development or biology is required; just an inquisitive mind. The purpose is for students to understand why a future doctor should understand aspects of embryology and how this can help their future patients.

5pm - 5:45pm Choosing your Medical School. What to look for.

Professor Wilson has experience recruiting undergraduate and postgraduate students from Europe (which currently includes the UK), North America, Latin America and Asia.

He graduated from both Oxford and Newcastle universities before taking up the position of Professor of Human Developmental Genetics in Southampton. He therefore has insight and experience both as an academic and student of several UK universities.

The most difficult part of a medical career, is probably getting a place at medical school. Whilst the rest isn’t easy, “getting-in” is the tightest bottle-neck.

This talk aims to provide a guide as what to consider when selecting a medical school in the UK and provide an open Q&A session.
